BORGOGNO is a major name and one of the oldest producers of Barolo that follows a philosophy of preserving tradition and history like a precious gem. Founded in 1761, the Borgogno estate has experienced significant international development since the 1920s, driven by Cesare Borgogno. This guiding principle is expressed through the wines known for their traditional character, impeccable depth, and unbelievable ability to withstand decades in the cellar. It is no surprise that the wines are beloved by collectors, novices, and wine professionals alike.

RISERVA wines are only produced in the best vintages. They are literally the legends of Barolo. All three wines are garnet coloured with orange highlights and each has its own personality.
The Barolo Liste Riserva 2009 has a dense, spicy nose and an extremely smooth palate.
The Barolo Liste Riserva 2012 develops a rare depth with scents of cherries and bay leaves.
Finally, the 2014 Barolo Liste Riserva is fresh, with a sweet minty expression and a saline, iodised finish.

This Caisse Liste Riserva Collection 2023 case from Borgogno contains:
1 x bottle of Liste Riserva 2009 from Borgogno
1 x bottle of Liste Riserva 2012 from Borgogno

Secondary: The Musical Audience and Media Reviews:
Checkpoint Theatre’s greatly anticipated 2024 season opener was lauded by educators, students, parents, and people of all ages and backgrounds for its incredible authenticity and sensitive yet accurate handling of the complex tensions of the Singapore school experience. Audiences streamed out of every one of the 11 performances with high praise for every element of the production – from the music to the set and costume designs, to the acting and directorial vision, and so much more – and, often, humming snatches from one of the original songs featured in the musical.

“An effortless script captures the casual nature of how students talk without sounding cringey… Matched with a solid cast… the play is highly engaging and memorable… It is with a standing ovation that the musical ends, fitting for a show that packs a massive amount into two hours and 45 minutes. Between the immensely talented cast and powerful story, Secondary: The Musical is one to catch.”

– The Straits Times

Take home your very own piece of Checkpoint Theatre history with these three beautifully custom-designed vests by LAICHAN from The Last Bull: A Life in Flamenco (2016).

About The Last Bull: A Life in Flamenco:
Spontaneous and fiery. Sad and beautiful. Seductive and heartbreaking. The Last Bull: A Life in Flamenco is an extraordinary love story between one man and the art of flamenco. Written by Huzir Sulaiman and directed by Claire Wong, this seductive play revolves around Antonio Vargas, one of the world’s leading flamenco dancers and choreographers.

Born in Casablanca to a family of French-speaking Spanish Jews, Vargas has lived around the world, including Morocco, Spain, Australia and now, Singapore. He has worked with luminaries of the arts and entertainment worlds, from his dance interpretation of “She Loves You” with The Beatles to his acclaimed performance in Baz Luhrmann’s romantic comedy Strictly Ballroom and sensuous choreography in John Woo’s Mission: Impossible II.

In The Last Bull: A Life in Flamenco, Huzir and Wong embraced a rare opportunity to create a performed memoir with Vargas on stage himself, tracing his dancer’s journey from childhood to old age. Huzir transformed Vargas’ biography and interviews with the cast into evocative prose and poetry. Wong’s direction wove Huzir’s writing into an electrifying and mesmerising theatrical frame, with flamenco dance, music and song taking centre stage.

Deeply personal and affecting, The Last Bull: A Life in Flamenco explored Vargas’s life story: the five-year-old boy stumbling upon his aunt dancing flamenco and emerging as one of the world’s most enchanting flamenco dancers. Much like the dance, The Last Bull is an achingly beautiful ode to a life filled with passionate pursuits.

The Last Bull: A Life in Flamenco was commissioned by Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA).

Biography:
Lai Chan is known as Singapore’s cheongsam maestro, with a signature style that is delicately understated and rich in fine detailing. Since 1991, he has been known for combining fabrics from around the world, ranging from Italian silk crêpes and delicate French laces to ethereal Japanese silk.

Today, Lai Chan – with almost four decades of dressmaking experience – has established himself in the fashion industry with his elaborate couture gowns and cheongsams. His works are pretty much one-of-a-kind, so much so that dignitaries, celebrities and socialites are his regulars. His boutique in Paragon along Orchard Road is a treasure trove of his meditations on the cheongsam.

Lai Chan starts his design process by taking inspiration from contemporary lifestyle pieces and translating them into the fabric, proportions, and details of his signature cheongsam. One of the techniques that he uses is the bias cut. He then puts the pieces together, such as tulle, lace, beads, and other details, before calculating the weight of the garments. This step is pivotal in his design process to see how beautiful the garment will look and feel when worn and not just hanging on the rack.

It features hand-stamped batik from Malaysia, created in collaboration with artisans in Kuala Terengganu, who bring generations of skill to each piece.

Lurik carries with it a rich history from Indonesia, symbolising humility and the beauty of everyday life.
About Sugar & Spice:
Established in 2016, Sugar & Spice began as one of the first soap-making studios in Singapore. Back then, crafting was often regarded as an occasional activity. Since then, we’ve witnessed the transformation of crafting as an outlet for mindfulness, connection, wellness, and creativity.

Here, we believe crafting is not just about making things; it’s about finding joy, fulfilment, and a sense of belonging. Through the years, Sugar & Spice has blossomed into a warm and inviting space where crafting enthusiasts come together to share moments of connection. For our students, it’s a retreat from the demands of the world’s needs — a sanctuary to take a mental break, hone skills, and uncover the joy of creation. And for local soap brand owners, our studio is a dedicated workspace to craft their handmade soaps for their small businesses.

Experience an exclusive dinner at Appetite, a creative multidisciplinary space that brings together food, music, art, research, and thought to create a new kind of community across boundaries. Led by Chef Ivan Brehm, Appetite serves a multi-course omakase menu that draws on a deep study of global food traditions and love of improvisation. The food at Appetite is globally informed and regionally focused.

Biography:
Ivan Brehm is the chef-owner of one Michelin-starred restaurant Nouri (established in 2017) and the creative interdisciplinary space, Appetite (established in 2020). He is recognised for developing a system of thought – of which cooking is a part – called Crossroads Thinking.

Nouri was created from the conviction that no food culture exists in isolation. By cooking food rooted in research, the restaurant creates dishes that are universally delicious, exploring our shared history and a future of respect and diversity. Beyond concepts, philosophies, or types of cuisines, Nouri is a place that celebrates people in all our differences and similarities.

A floor above sits Appetite (opened in 2020), a creative space that brings together an R&D kitchen, art gallery, and record bar to create a new kind of community across boundaries. Sitting at the crossroads of gastronomy, visual arts, and music, Appetite’s mandate is to explore intimate appreciations of these creative forms of expression and promote trans-disciplinarity with thorough research, food, and meaningful experiences.
