Come learn about the many kinds of insects that call Singapore home. Explore a nature park and see all the nooks and crannies where they live, find out why they are there, and why they are important for the forests and our survival. Finally, learn about Citizen Science and how one can contribute to research by making our own observations using iNaturalist.
You will:
• Understand insects, their habitats and what they do for the forests
• Understand basic ecology around common community spaces like gardens and parks
• Contribute to Citizen Science by recording observations through iNaturalist
About The Curious Pangolin:
The Curious Pangolin is focused on raising the awareness and understanding of insects and other terrestrial arthropods in Singapore and the region. We work with like-minded educators and agricultural professionals to promote insect biodiversity and its conservation. We believe that educating everyone about the beauty and importance of insects will promote meaningful relationships with insects for the betterment of society. Thus far, we have conducted numerous workshops with organisations and schools.
Bug-catcher James
Known affectionately as “Bug-catcher James” or “The Insect Guy”, James Khoo’s love for insects and nature led him to start The Curious Pangolin. His environmental work is focused on nature conservation as well as soil-based agriculture and its interactions with insects and other arthropods. He works with scientists, farmers, and like-minded educators to raise awareness and appreciation of insects through tailor-made workshops, collaborations, and experiences, as well as designing insect-friendly spaces.
